Resident preferences will help determine the future governance and means of control residents have over government services, taxes and other local issues

Your decision about the future local government in your area may impact the decisions
made on these issues:

  1. the taxes and fees you pay;
  2. how much local control you have;
  3. zoning regulations that apply;
  4. construction and maintenance of roads, sidewalks and streetlights; police and fire protection; and
  5. other necessary services provided by local government.

As a voter and/or property owner in the unincorporated area and/or county township,
you may be asked at some future time to vote on incorporating or signing a petition in
favor of annexation.

In the meantime, however, you have the opportunity to voice your preferences by
responding to a survey, which the State Legislature will consider as they shape state law on townships, annexation and incorporation procedures. Local elected officials will also consider the survey responses in planning for future annexations and incorporations. Now is the time to have your voice heard.
